About TaxSure

A tax decision-support engine with attorney judgment at the center, not a traditional tax practice with a chatbot bolted on.

Josh Lowenthal

I'm a tax and M&A attorney. I represent buyers through acquisitions, structure the tax side of deals for other attorneys' clients, and step in when a transaction has real tax stakes that a generalist shouldn't be expected to catch alone. TaxSure is that same judgment, packaged as a fixed-fee, two-meeting engagement.

Before practicing law, I worked at a regional public accounting firm on middle-market M&A and tax controversy, then at a Big 4 accounting firm, then in an international law firm's estate planning and probate litigation group in Metro Detroit. I hold a JD and an LLM in Taxation from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law, and a BA in Political Science and Psychology from the University of Michigan. I'm admitted to practice in Michigan and Alabama, and I've been named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Business & Corporate Law every year from 2023 through 2025. I represent clients nationally through the Law Office of Joshua A. Lowenthal, PLC, a virtual law firm.

When I'm not working a deal, I'm home with my wife and our two boys, training for the next marathon (running the Dopey Challenge as part of the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend), or planning my next backpacking trip (most recently the Pemi Loop in New Hampshire).
